Details:

The pilot light in my fireplace would not stay lit. I was not sure if did the troubleshooting correctly, so valve may be good, or. The led on valve flashes once every few seconds when pilot is held by depressing button, but does not go solid then off as manual says. I tried replacing the pilot assembly but that did not correct situation.

I ended up replacing the valve and pilot assembly with a non remote control unit.
